This video is dedicated to all those, far and wide, who opposed the M3 Motorway and made a stand to defend Tara when the Government of Ireland failed to...
Congratulations to Carmel Diviney on the launch of her book Tara Calling, The Desecration of a Sacred Landscape!
Tara, steeped in history and legend, was renowned as the spiritual, cultural and political heart of ancient Ireland. The routing of the M3 Motorway through the Tara Skryne Valley, an archaeologically rich complex comparable to Egypt’s Valley of the Kings in its unique heritage, was condemned by archaeologists and academics internationally, including the World Archaeological Congress 2007.
This book chronicles the campaign against the controversial route and the eventual emergence of on-the-ground protests of Direct Action. Included are media articles providing a timeline of events as well as the political and legal background of the day. It includes eye witness testimonies and interviews with people who took part in Direct Action, those who stood against what Seamus Heaney, Irish Poet and Nobel laureate described as, “the desecration of a sacred landscape”. The book is available to purchase at Carmel’s website: www.carmeldiviney.com
The Tara Skryne Valley is a beautiful area to visit and it holds a special place as the cultural centre of Irish heritage and history.
If you are out and about in the valley and you see something that concerns you or you are curious about e.g. surveying, diggers etc, please let us know so we can investigate.
It may be something that we're already aware of but on the other hand, it may not, so the sooner we're advised of any activities the better.
We appreciate your support. Thank you!
