Making another attempt last Friday at cultivating new hawthorns from the original Faery Tree. Our previous attempt was unsuccessful. We may have to try again...
Sincere thanks to everyone who showed up for the community clean up of the twin Fairy trees at Tara.
It was a slow start with heavy rain hampering people’s arrival but soon we had about 30 people all working together to free the trees from a build up over recent years of items that have been leading to damage and rot. Some of the items removed included condoms, tampons, other sanitary ware, chewing gum, wire, rope, electrical cord, rubber bands, paracord, handcuffs, heavy rags and many plastic items.
The area around the trees was also cleaned-up and when we were leaving and walking down the Hill, items people had thoughtlessly discarded were also removed.
Thanks also to RTE Radio, LMFM, Spin FM and the Irish Examiner who helped publicise the event as well as raise awareness of our ancient traditions.
The Tara Skryne Valley is a beautiful area to visit and it holds a special place as the cultural centre of Irish heritage and history.
If you are out and about in the valley and you see something that concerns you or you are curious about e.g. surveying, diggers etc, please let us know so we can investigate.
It may be something that we're already aware of but on the other hand, it may not, so the sooner we're advised of any activities the better.
We appreciate your support. Thank you!
